Pre-Pregnancy Care:

  • Gives you a chance to get to know us and have wonderful pre-pregnancy discussions about your expectations and dreams.
  • Can include health assessments, education, a gynecology visit and blood work.
  • Can include positive referrals to other healthcare providers if necessary for evaluation of medical or emotional issues which may be a factor in pregnancy or parenting.
  • Gives you an opportunity to take part in home birth circles and meet other parents who have already experienced a home birth for group discussions.
  • Gives opportunities for partners to discuss concerns around parenting and pregnancy.
  • Includes nutritional counseling, discussion about supplementation with vitamins or herbal/holistic medicine, and establishment of a healthier life style pre-pregnancy.
  • Allows our office to start records of your menstrual, contraceptive and sexual history.

What you need to know:

  • Pre-pregnancy visits are unhurried and generally last about 30-40 minutes. “You will be unrushed and given time to ask questions”.
  • I welcome all couples, regardless of sexual orientation. “You may have special needs as a marginalized population. Please know that you will be received and welcomed.”
